How to Resize your Digital images for competitions
NSLPS Digital competitions have a size limit of 768 x 768 pixels, and a maximum of 220KB. The following steps will help you resize your image to meet these requirements.
For Photoshop (PS6, PS7, CS & CS2)
STEP 1 - Make a CopyThe following operations modify the image and therefore should only be carried out on a copy.
STEP 2 - Convert to sRGB Colour Profile
Photoshop CS2 - Go to Edit menu and select Convert to Profile. If the source space is not sRGB then select sRGB IEC61966-2.1 for the Destination Space Profile. For RAW images a preferred alternative is to use Camera Raw and set Space to sRGB IEC61966-1.
Photoshop CS and earlier - Go to Image menu and select Mode then choose Convert to Profile. If the source space is not sRGB then select sRGB IEC61966-2.1 for the Destination Space profile.
STEP 3 - Set Image Mode
Go to Image menu, select Mode and change to 8 Bits/Channel.
STEP 4 - Resize
Go to File menu, select Automate, select Fit Image.
In the Constrain within: enter width - 768, height - 768.
STEP 5 - Sharpen
Take the opportunity to sharpen the image at this stage if required

For a landscape image set the Width to 768 pixels. Check that the Height is 768 pixels or less. For a portrait image set the Height to 768 pixels. Check that the Width is 768 pixels or less.
If the filesize is more than 220K, then click the (>) Optimise menu - next to Settings, and select Optimise to Filesize. Enter filesize - 220, then click OK.
If it is still larger than 220K, or you are unhappy with the quality, try reducing the pixels eg. to a width/height of 700
Click Save. In the file dialogue box make the file name the same as the author's name with the title following i.e.,
john_wheeler_the_shearers.jpg.(Do not use spaces in your filename. Use the underscore character instead both for words in the title and to join the author's name. Do not use upper case characters).
